Bizzarro, Or Else.

Who: Cole

Where: Bizzarro Italian Cafe

What: Diablo Prawns, homemade focaccia bread, starter salads, The Forest Floor Frenzy and the Lasagna.

My person and I just recently celebrated three years of dating together. Eek, I know – kind of a big deal right?! What better way for us to celebrate three years than with some of our favorite foods and a classic Ali and Cole date night.

Bizzarro Italian Cafe has been one of my favorite Seattle restaurants since I started living here seven years ago, and is my idea of the perfect date night spot. Unlike most Seattle establishments these days, Bizzarro still has a unique, quirky flavor all its own and, not only has some of the best handmade pasta I’ve ever had, but comes at a fairly reasonable price. Of course we weren’t trying to skimp on such an occasion but why would we go anywhere else when we happen to just LOVE Bizzarro? (more…)

Frelard Frolicking

Who: Cole and Leslie

Where: Frelard Pizza Company

What: A pitcher of Fremont Summer Ale, Garden Greens salad and the Staple & Fancy.

So it’s not weird or anything, but when Cole and I moved to Fremont we knowingly moved within three blocks of one of my favorite co-workers, Leslie. My co-worker who I also share an office with 40+ hours a week. Not creepy whatsoever.

If this were any other co-worker, it might be borderline creepy. Lucky for me and Cole, Leslie also happens to be one of my favorite people ever and a co-worker turned friend who I actually want to spend time with outside of a 40+ hour work week. So once we moved to Fremont, the three of us were due for a celebration complete with pizza and beer. And more beer.  (more…)

Wicked Oysters and Champagne

Who: Mama D

Where: Taylor Shellfish Oyster Bar

What: Shigoku, Fanny Bay and Kumamoto oysters on the half shell with champagne mignonette, geoduck sashimi, oyster stew and Je T’aime Brut Rose.

Most people would think it’s crazy, but one of the 9249834 reasons why I love my mom is the fact that we plan our meals and dining adventures many months in advance. Example: our Thanksgiving 2015 menu planning is already in the works. So naturally, when we sprung for Wicked! tickets this summer (which we were dying to see), the first thing we started discussing was what we were going to eat and drink before and after.  (more…)

Southern Feast

Who: Cole and Napha

Where: Restaurant Roux

What: The Front Porch, wine and beer, jalapeno and cheddar hush-puppies, twice cooked buttermilk fried chicken with spiced honey and pickled okra, mac and cheese, and more fried chicken.

One of the many motivations for Cole and I to move to Fremont was to be within walking distance to a bustling restaurant scene. We literally have multiple amazing coffee shops, wine bars, pizza, Mexican, burger, Caribbean, French Creole and seafood restaurants within two blocks from our front door. We officially never want to leave Fremont. (more…)
